Manila, Philippines – The death toll in the Alegria vehicular accident has risen to 9 as two more died in a private hospital in Cebu City as of 4 p.m. Sunday, January 21.
Alegria town police chief, Senior Inspector Efren Diaz said of the three health workers admitted for injuries, two died Sunday afternoon.
Admitted last night were Elenita Rubio, Leonor Tsai and Fred Tsai. As of 8:30 p.m.
Sunday, police have yet to confirm the names of the two who died.
On Saturday noon, a van carrying Filipino-American doctors and nurses rammed into a mahogany tree in Barangay Legaspi, Alegria, while on the way to Kawasan Falls in Badian, Cebu.
Six died on the spot while another one died in a public hospital. They were Aurora Gagni, Joseph Huang, Juvella Huang, Nunilo Rubio, Rey Pascual and Berniti Rojas.
Diana Pascual died at the Malabuyoc District Hospital.
The driver survived and is now held at the Alegria Police Station awaiting charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and serious physical injuries.
The group were scheduled to conduct a medical mission in Camiguin on Monday, January 22.
