Manila, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment has temporarily suspended the issuance of the Alien Employment Permit (AEP) to foreign workers in Boracay.
Based on Labor Advisory No. 11, series of 2018, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that the temporary suspension is for foreigners who intend to work in Boracay and those with valid AEPs who want to renew their employment permits.
But those authorized by the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force, and foreigners intending to conduct research related to the rehabilitation of the island are exempted.
Also exempted from temporary suspension are permanent resident foreign nationals and probationary or temporary resident visa holders.
All exempted foreigners included on the list under Section 3 of DoLE Department Order No. 186, Series of 2017 (Revised Rules for the Issuance of Employment Permits to Foreign Nationals) are also exempted.
The labor advisory was signed on June 26 and shall take effect until the temporary closure of Boracay has been lifted.
