Filipinos who think they are poor up 6 points from March

Manila, Philippines – The number of Filipino families who consider themselves poor has increased to an estimated 11 million from March, the latest Social Weather Stations survey showed.

The Second Quarter 2018 Social Weather Survey, done on June 27-30, 2018, found that 48 percent or an estimated 11.1 million of families consider themselves as poor.

The number is six percentage points above the 42 percent, or an estimated  9.8 million families, in March 2018.

The 48-percent self-rated poverty rate registered in June is the highest since the 50-percent registered in March 2017.
