Manila, Philippines – The Philippines’ Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has set guidelines for the recruitment and deployment of over 100,000 Filipino teachers, who will teach English in China.
The guidelines, according to DOLE Secretary Silvestre BELLO III, reflect the bilateral agreement inked between the Philippines and Chinese governments last April in China.
They outline the obligations of both country’s governments, and along with the details of the hiring process.
The joint guidelines also detail the expected qualifications of applicants. For instance, interested Filipino teachers must hold a professional licence, currently be working a private higher education institutions, and they must at minimum hold a bachelor’s degree from reputable universities or institutions accredited by China’s Ministry of Education.
Further, they are expected to be in good physical and mental health, and have a clean record free from criminal or administrative offence.
