Manila, Philippines – A 79-year-old Australian was found dead Saturday with a stab wound in the chest in the living room of his house in Sitio Marabo, Barangay Mambaroto, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, according to Chief Insp. Nasser Canja, officer-in-charge of the Sipalay City Police Station.
The body of Teunis Van Dalen, 79, was already in a state of decomposition when discovered, Canja said.
According to the Scene Of the Crime Operatives, there were signs forcible entry int the house of victim and that a commotion had taken place.
Investigators were looking into three angles into the killing. But Canja said he could not give details at the moment.
Based on the result of the post-mortem examinations conducted by Dr. Roberto Ledesma of the Sipalay City Health Office, Van Dalen succumbed to a lone stab wound on the right side of his chest.
Canja said the victim, a pensioner, had been living in Sipalay City for 20 years.
