2 injured, 1,000 families homeless in Malabon fire

FIRE hit a residential area in Malabon on Thursday, leaving two injured and 1,000 families homeless, according to a radio report.

The fire, which lasted for almost three hours, happened at Governor Pascual Street in Barangay Catmon at 1:30 p.m., the report said.

Faulty wiring was seen as the likely cause of the fire, according to Malabon Marshall Severino Sevilla in a phone patch interview.

In a separate report, Malabon Fire Marshall Stephen Requina was quoted as saying that there was difficulty putting out the blaze, which was placed under control at 4:30 p.m., because of strong winds.

The fire in Malabon was the second incident in less than 24 hours after one hit a residential area in Quezon City, injuring five people, affecting 300 families and destroying P500,000 worth of property.
